In order to set up CAM-POST to run within NX, you must run the following application:
Start > Programs > ICAM Productivity Tools V20 > Setup > Kit > UGS-NX

The “General” tab contains two sections: “ICAM Software” and “Database”. The first is used to specify which version of CAM-POST should be used. The second allows you to select the default database to be used when running an ICAM post-processor within NX. Verify that all required post-processors, Virtual Machine models and Control Emulators are present in the selected database.

The “UGS NX” tab is automatically populated by the setup utility and does not normally require any changes. This tab specifies the NX version number, as well as the NX installation, post-processor and toolpath template folders. All fields can be manually edited if required.

Clicking the “Install/Update” button launches the post- processor installation dialog. The utility analyses the previously-selected database and displays a list of all the post processors it contains. You can check which post-processors you wish to make available within NX.

The utility automatically detects the template destination folder (designated by the NX environment variable UGII_CAM_POST_DIR). If any of the post-processors in the database have been already previously installed, they will be shown with an unchecked checkbox. Should you wish to reinstall or update such a post, just check its checkbox one more time.

You must also select the appropriate CLSF format required by the post-processor. If not sure, select the option CLSF_ADVANCED.

Finally, the ”GENER” and “CERun” tabs allow you to choose the default interface mode (i.e. full interface, progress bar or minimized in background) to be used when running Gener and respectively Control Emulator. In the case of GENER, it also allows you to select the interface kit to be used.

Generating NC Data Output from NX:

You can now run your ICAM post processors the same way as regular NX Post Builder posts.

  • Select the program(s) in the Operation Navigator.
  • Pick the “Post Process” button on the toolbar, or from the right-click pop-up menu.
  • In the “Postprocessor” dialog, the installed post-processors will now be available at the top of the list. Select the required post.
  • Enter a name for the output file and press OK.

Benefit to User
Post-processing directly from the CAM system simplifies and speeds NC code generation.
